Pretty Molly

Hi!  I just got this new Molly Blooms stamp this morning and couldn't wait to get a card made with it!  I wanted to do something really bright and colourful...hope you like it.  The sentiment is on the inside because there was no room for it on the front!  I'm entering it into four challenges:
If you want some inspiration, head on over to these blogs; you'll find plenty there to keep you busy.

Supplies:
  • Stamps - Molly Blooms Molly with Bunting
  • Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink
  • CS - SU Whisper White
  • Paper - My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy 'Tickled Pink'
  • Extras - Lace (The Ribbon Girl); Copic markers; Prima Marketing flowers; Papermania Brads; Sizzix Bigz Scallop circle die

Hugs and prayers

A friend needed a few simple and quick cards so I whipped up these Clean and Simple cards in no time!  It's funny, but the cards I spend ages planning are the ones I'm never happy with!  Small 4" square cards with a touch of paper (beautiful - from October Afternoon), a few Waltzingmouse stamps, some gorgeous lace from The Ribbon Girl and away we go!

Supplies:
  • Stamps - WMS Teeny Trees & Say It Loud
  • CS - SU Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
  • Paper - October Afternoon The Thrift Shop
  • Ink - SU Close to Cocoa, Real Red
  • Extra - Lace (The Ribbon Girl)
This is another similar card but this time for a wedding.  Just a few pearls are added to make it that extra bit special!

Flowers and pearls

Good morning!  Today's card is for a couple of challenges - Belles and Whistles and A Passion for Papertrey.  For the Belles and Whistles challenge we have to use flowers and pearls and, of course, an Elizabeth Bell image.  For the Passion for Papertrey challenge we have to incorporate a border and, of course, a PTI product.  Although there is a lot more work has gone into this card (compared with my usual preference of clean and simple), I much prefer it. More scope to be creative and colourful! I still haven't mastered the Copic colouring techniques, especially for hair and other shading, but I'll get there!   So here is my take on it!

Supplies:
  • Stamps - Belles and Whistles Girl Praying; PTI Just the Ticket; SU Always in my Thoughts
  • Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink; SU Rich Razzleberry
  • CS - SU Crumb Cake (aka Kraft), Whisper White
  • Paper - My Mind's Eye Happy Go Lucky
  • Extras - PTI Ticket die, Flower dies; SU Scallop border punch; Martha Stewart border doily punch; Nestabilities small circle die; Kaiserkraft Turquoise pearls; Felt (30% wool)

Waltzingmouse challenge

Today's card is a really simple one, that took about 10 minutes to finish.  The card itself is 4" x 4" square(one of my favourite sizes).  I like square cards as I think there is more room to work on.  This one uses the following Waltzingmouse Challenge sketch:

I made two of these cards - one for my mum and one for my daughter.  We were out shopping all day Friday and Saturday and it was a lovely bonding time for me and I really enjoyed being with them.

Supplies:
  • Stamps - WMS Teeny Trees, Gingham and Co and Join Us
  • CS - SU So Saffron
  • Ink - SU So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa
  • Extra - Chocolate Chip Marker (to hand draw the stitched lines)

Purple passion and a book review

I liked the challenge over on A Passion for Papertrey so much that I thought I'd make another card incorporating a border because I really wanted to use this gorgeous paper Happy Go Lucky from My Mind's Eye.

This card was quick and easy to do and I have a border die from PTI that I have never used yet, so here is my chance now!

Don't you just love those bright colourful butterflies?

Supplies:
  • Stamps - PTI Tea for Two and Tea for Two Additions
  • CS - SU Crumb Cake (Kraft)
  • Ink - SU Night of Navy; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink
  • Paper - My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky
  • Extras - PTI Large Scallop Border die, Teacup die, Tea for Two Collection die, Mat stack #2 die
Today I'd like to start an occasional book review.  Most, if not all the books I review will be Christian ones that I have read.  After a while, you'll start to see who my favourite authors are because I read every book they publish!

The first one is by Karen Kingsbury and it is called 'Shades of Blue'.  Karen always deals with the issues in her book with great sensitivity and care without losing any of the convictions she holds on the subject matter and without dishonouring God.  This one is about a young couple who are very much in love and have great plans for their future when tragedy strikes and their plans are shattered; it is also about the long journey they both have to take to find forgiveness.  This book is an excellent read; be prepared to use up a box of the old Kleenex before you finish it.  I'd really appreciate any comments you might have about whether or not you enjoyed this book.

God bless!

Triple challenge

Hi there!  Hope you are all well and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.  Here in Northern Ireland it has been fabulous for the past few days and of course, long may it last!

Today's card is a triple challenge for Less is More (we have to use the colour BLUE for this one), for A Passion for Papertrey (incorporate aborder somewhere in the card) and also for CAS-ual Fridays (create a masculine card using Kraft).    Blue is a colour I very rarely use, so I was out of my comfort zone in this aspect alone!  I'm a pink and purple girl!  But I love Kraft too.  I have to say I tried to be a bit more adventurous with this card but I'm not really happy with it because it has ended up perhaps not so clean and not so simple!

Anyway, it worked out well as it is for my brother-in-law who has just had surgery on his foot.

Supplies:
  • Stamps - PTI Tag-Its #2 and #3; WMS Frame It
  • CS - SU Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze
  • Ink - SU Night of Navy; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink
  • Paper - October Afternoon Fly a Kite
  • Extra - 1 3/4" circle punch
Thought for the Week - In church this morning we heard a very encouraging word about the guidance of the Lord in our lives.  We learnt from Psalm 25:1-11 that we need to ask God for guidance for every aspect of our lives not just the big things like a job or marriage or where to live.  God's guidance and leading in our lives is perfect, even when we don't understand it.  Remember when Moses was told by God to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt into the promised land?  Instead of going by the direct and obvious route, God took them by a long, round-about way which took forty years to complete!  The Israelites were no doubt thinking 'Why can't we go by the quick route?  What's the reason for this long journey?'  The thing is, because God is omniscient and knows the end from the beginning, He would have known all the pitfalls and dangers that the Israelites would have had to face by going, as they thought, the easy way.  In His wonderful wisdom, God was actually preserving them from unseen dangers by guiding them the way He did.  Ours is not to question 'why?' but ours is to follow in humble submission and trust His all-knowing wisdom and will.  May I learn this incoming week to trust God with every aspect of my life, big and small because He is interested in it all!
May God bless you this week.

Sugar Bowl Challenge

Hello!  It's my daughter's 23rd birthday today and I made her a card using the sketch from the Sugar Bowl Challenge.  Unfortunately, my colouring skills are not very good, in fact, pretty poor, I'd say but hopefully with more practice I'll improve a bit!  I feel a bit embarassed even putting this card on public display when I know there are so many more super talented colourers out there!  But everybody has to start somewhere!

Supplies:
  • Stamps - Sugar Nellie Manga girl; PTI Make a Wish
  • CS - SU Whisper White, Old Olive
  • Paper - First Edition Spring Feast
  • Ink - SU Old Olive, Memento London Fog
  • Extras - Corner Rounder, Martha Stewart Frond punch, Papermania Pink Brads, PTI Flower dies, Felt, Copic Markers
