CAS(e) this sketch #5

Hi again!  I had a bit more time than I thought so here is post two for today!  I made this card for the CAS(e) This Sketch challenge and it will be the perfect wedding card for a friend of mine who is getting married in a couple of weeks' time.  This is a great challenge, I really like the sketches they do here...well done, Jackie!

I used washi tape for the sentiment strip and three little buttons.  Simples!

Thanks for looking again!

CASology #18 - Orange

Hello folks!  This is my effort for the current challenge over at CASology which is to use the cue word 'Orange'.  This is a sympathy card that I made using the little embosslits from Stampin' Up! and also Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

I'll be back later with another Clean and Simple card for another challenge.  See you later!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #122

Bountiful Baskets Additions

Hello everyone!  Today I have a card for you which I'm entering into WMS Challenge #122.  I am using a little set that I'd forgotten that I have, called Bountiful Baskets Additions.  The little pocket was cut out using a die from WPlus9.  This is an American company but if you go here to Make the Day Special you can purchase them in the UK.  Love these!

Love Notes Die

I love pumpkins and I especially like the sentiment on this card.  Sometimes we have difficult situations to face in life, but the Lord tells us in the Scriptures to be thankful at all times, not just when things are going well for us.  Not an easy thing to do but we must look for the positive things amid our trials and FIND something to be thankful for, even when we feel there is nothing good.  This is a challenge in itself, but the Lord gives His people the grace they need for every situation.

Here is the sketch for this week's challenge:

I apologise for the poor quality of this photo, but I had to take it at night and I'm not allowed to open my new Light Studio Box from my son until my birthday!

Take care and God bless!

25th Birthday!

Good morning!  I just wanted to post a card for a couple of challenges before I go out for coffee with my daughter and her husband.  It will be his birthday on Sunday and I wanted to make a card that has an autumn feel to it, so here it is.

I am entering this card into two challenges -
The image is a Digi Stamp from Meljens Designs and the little embossed leaf is Joy Crafts.  I coloured this with Promarkers.

I love these autumn colours.  Even though it is very cold outside, these colours are inclined to give a feeling of warmth and comfort, just another one of God's blessings that He sends to cheer us along the way!

No 1 Niece

Hello friends!  Happy Monday to you!  I'm off work this week for the Half Term break and have just washed the floors in the bathroom and ensuite, so I'm blogging while I'm waiting for them to dry ; )

I've just discovered that my card from last week with the frame and leaves was chosen as a 'Cut Above' over at the Paper Players.  What fun!

It was my niece's birthday on Friday past and I made her this card.  She loved the feel of the little pompoms.  I don't think my photos are very clear as the light was not good, but there is a lot of glitter.

I also made this card for my son to give to his wee cousin. This image is from Pink Petticoat and was coloured with Promarkers.

Have a lovely week!

Autumn blessing!

Hello friends and followers, especially to my two recent new followers, Bridget and Debbie!
Here in Northern Ireland it is really cold today but it is very sunny and dry and a beautiful autumn day!  Remember, the clocks go back one hour tonight so the good news is that we get an extra hour in bed tomorrow but the not-so-good news is that the evenings will soon become a lot darker earlier.

Today's card is for my daughter just because she is 'what it says on the card'!  She popped in to see me this morning for a chat and a cuppa and she just brightened my day.  As you can see (if you've been looking at my recent other blog posts), I do love the embossing folder with the dots and frame and it fits so many of the sentiment stamps I have.  I love this wide ribbon from Stampin' Up! and the Pumpkin Pie colour.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I am trying really hard to improve the look of my photographs but just never seem to be able to get them exactly as I'd like (I think it's because I don't have a lot of natural light coming into the house), but I'm pleased with this one.

I have a sad task ahead of me now, as I'm going to make a sympathy card for the family of the young British female soldier who was killed in Afghanistan this week.  We knew this family from when we used to live near them and the young woman went to the same school as my children.  A very sad and tragic loss.

God bless you today.

Count your many blessings...

We have so many things to be thankful for in life, and when we look around us or listen to the news, we always hear of someone who doesn't have as much as we have.  I heard a saying once that was very thought-provoking - 'Count your blessings by what you have not by what you don't have'.

Today's card is one I made for someone who gave me and my husband a gift for our silver anniversary.  I used the same leaves (Joy Crafts) on yesterday's card (which I first saw over here on Bridget's blog) but I think they are so cute, I had to use them again!  The dotty framed card was done using a Sizzix bookplate embossing folder and then I added some jute from The Ribbon Girls.  I added a little leaf and sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps, called Blessed by You.  Then I added some embossed leaves in various colours to the jute.  Voila!

I am entering this card into three challenges:
Thanks for looking and may the Lord be your blessing today!

I'm so grateful for you...

Good morning, friends and fellow crafters!  I hope you are all well and enjoying the lovely crisp Autumn weather we are having (well, it is like that here in Northern Ireland).

My card for today is for the Challenge over at the Ribbon Girls and it is a colour challenge, using the picture below for inspiration.

I recently got some new leaf dies which are oh so pretty (Joy Crafts).  The sentiment is from Signature Greetings (Papertrey Ink).  At this time of year, we, as Christians, do not celebrate Hallowe'en but we do thank the Lord for all His bountiful blessings to us.  Apart from my salvation, my greatest blessing is my family and I made this card for my mum, who has been getting tests recently regarding her cancer.  Mum, I'd just like you to know that I really do appreciate you and am praying for you!  You'll get this card in the post in the next day or two ; )

Thanks for stopping by today!

Back again...and so soon!

Please don't laugh!  Yes, it's me again with another card for the CASology challenge to make a card with the cue word 'LEAF'.  I know, I haven't blogged for a couple of months and then suddenly I have two cards in one day!!  I just got these new WPlus9 dies yesterday (from Make the Day Special)and couldn't wait to use them and one of them contains leaves so...perfect!

I used Soft Suede for the base colour and cut the 'Thanks' word (Memory Box die)from the same colour to make it look like the word is embossed into the card.  Then I die cut my little leaf (Certainly Celery) and the bird from WPlus9 which I popped up with foam pads.  No stamping at all in this card but still quick and simple!

Glad tidings!

Well, it has been quite a while since I last posted on my blog, a couple of months in fact, but here I am hopefully on the ball again!  I have missed posting on my blog so I will try to bemore regular with it.

One of my favourite challenges that I have especially missed doing is CASology. This week the cue word is -

The girls on the challenge always say that we shouldn't feel restricted to the word itself but to what it conjures up in our mind.  For me, leaf means 'tree' and at this season, especially, Christmas trees.  I got this lovely 'Modern Landscape' Memory Box die and haven't had an excuse to use it yet so it was perfect for this challenge, I felt.  I also used a Swiss Dots embossing folder to add a little dimension.  The embossed sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Thought for the Week.
So what does the Bible have to say about a 'leaf'?

There are not many references to 'leaf' in the singular but one of them is from a favourite passage of mine, Psalm 1.  This Psalm has always been a source of comfort and help to many Christians.  In verse 3 we read -
'his leaf also shall not wither'.  This is referring to the man, woman, boy or girl who has put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and who will always grow and flourish as long as they stay close to Him. Christians, the Bible says, are like a tree that is planted beside a river where there will be plenty of water and nourishment to spiritual promote growth and health.  we should keep in close communion with our God, reading His Word and talking to Him on a daily basis, and then we will 'bring forth fruit', meaning we will become more like our Saviour and hopefully lead others to know Him too.

God bless you this week!

CASology Challenge #4 - Bird

Hi folks!  Today's card is for the CASology Challenge using the cue word 'BIRD'.  This is quite an easy one as there are so many stamps with birds on them nowadays, although the girls say we are not limited to a bird, it can be anything related such as flying, singing, anything that comes easily to mind.  I'm not sure if this card could really be described as Clean and Simple because it has a background paper on it, but I think it is uncluttered.  The digi stamp is from Pink Petticoat and you can just see the little bird on the branch.

I coloured this with my Promarkers and added a few drops of Liquid Pearls in the centre of the flowers for a bit of dimension.

Thought for the Week

So what does God's Word say about birds?  There are numerous verses referring to birds in the Bible but one of my favourite verses is found in Matthew 10:29-31 where the Lord Jesus is reminding His people that God loves even the very tiniest and most insignificant of birds, the sparrow, and nothing happens to them without the Heavenly Father knowing all about it.  But God loves His children so much more than the sparrow because He sent His Son to die for our sins and to forgive us.  A great comfort to me is knowing that no matter what happens to me, God knows every tiny little detail, right down to the very number of hairs on my head! And not only does He know all about it, but He cares what happens to me, and to you too, if you are His child.  So if you are feeling sad or lonely today and think that no one cares about you, remember, if you're a Christian, your Heavenly Father cares deeply about you.  If you have not yet asked the Lord Jesus Christ to be your Saviour, you can do it right now, just where you sit.  Simply ask Him to come into your heart and cleanse away your sin and ask Him to help you live for Him day by day.

God bless!

CASology #3 - Fruit

Hi folks!
I think I'm just about in time if I get this post done now for the CASology Challenge which this week is the word FRUIT.  The stamp I used for this card is a digi stamp that was a freebie but I can't remember where I got it from.  I coloured it with Promarkers, added some glitter and some gloss on the fruit, a cherry, and printed the little sentiment from my PC using a new font I downloaded from The Digi Chick called Fonnetta.

Thought for the Week
I was thinking about this week's challenge word and it got me to thinking...what does the Bible say about fruit?  Well, it was because Eve was tempted to eat the forbidden fruit that sin came into the world.  It was the blessed fruit of Mary's womb, the Lord Jesus Christ, who brought salvation into the world to deal with this sin.  Then for the Christian, in Galatians 5:22,23 the Bible says:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, temperance".
The Christian is to be filled with these things when he or she is filled with the Holy Spirit.  Today, we should ask our heavenly Father to fill us with the fruit of the Spirit and help us to live a holy and godly life for His glory.

Thanks for looking and may God bless you today!

Orange tree

Hi friends!  Hope the weather is good wherever you are.  Here in Northern Ireland, the weather has picked up a bit and it has been beautiful today...definitely a good time to get the bed sheets all washed!

So, for today's card.  This one is for friends of my mum who are very kind and thoughtful towards her, just to let them know that we appreciate what they do for her.
The stamp is a digi stamp from Pink Petticoat and I decided to colour it with different shades of orange.  The background papers are from Papertrey Ink.  I coloured this image with Promarkers and added some glitter for a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for looking today!

What makes you happy?

Well, here we are - Friday again!  Where do the days go?  They are flying past in a flash.
Today's post is for the CASology  challenge, where the inspiring word is 'HAPPY'.  So, I thought, what makes me happy?  It didn't take long to come up with the answer - home and family.  So when I remembered this stamp set I got from Purple Onion Designs by Stephanie Ackerman, I knew it would be perfect for this card.  Paper-pieced, it was quick and simple.  It will also do perfectly for a friend who is moving house today.

The papers are Echo Park (Sweet Day).
So, I hope your day (and weekend) is a HAPPY one!

God bless.

Sing with a thankful heart!

Hello everyone!  I hope you are well today.
I would like to share with you a card with a cute image I have downloaded from DigiStamp Boutique called 'Cute Bird Collection'.  I am entering this card into the monthly DigiStamp Boutique competition.

Isn't this little image sweet?  I coloured it with Promarkers.  The papers are new ones from Echo Park called Sweet Day and the little pompoms are from Ribbon Girls.  The sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps.  I am also entering this card into Word Art Wednesday.

Take care today!

Question - sober or not?

Good evening friends!  I was at my mum's house today and we had a good laugh about one of my cards yesterday!  This is the one with the stitched circles.   Anyway, she asked me was that the way the stitching was meant to be, all higgeldy-piggeldy, as if I was drunk when I did it!  Well, for one I don't drink so I was definitely sober and 'compos mentis' when I did it; and secondly, I really did mean for it to look like this - as I told her I'd seen it done somewhere else before and thought it looked great!  She even told this all to her neighbour and could hardly speak to her for laughing!  Then she gave me advice about how to do proper circles and mark it with a pencil!  Well, I'm glad to know that my cards cause such free entertainment, if nothing else!!!
So, onto today's card.  This card is for The Ribbon Girl Challenge - use aqua, blue and teracotta.  I am also entering it into Meljen Designs Challenge which is to make a card for a birthday.  Well, I have slightly altered the thought behind this because I would say this card is for a New Birth Day!  So I used a cute little laundry line from Meljen Designs (digi stamp) and coloured it with my Promarkers.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Thanks for looking!

Missing you loads

Hi folks!  Yesterday I called to see my mum who is brilliant using the sewing machine and explained  to her about my little difficulties using my mini machine. Of course, when she looked at it, I hadn't actually threaded it properly which was why the thread kept breaking!  Anyway, SuperMum fixed it (thanks, mum!) and I was able to make this card with a random couple of rows of stitching.  It seemed like a good idea at the time and I quite like the effect of it, but it may not be to everyone's taste.  If you leave me a comment, please be kind and just humour me!
I am entering it into Less is More which is to make a One-Layer card with 3 things on it.  The stamp is a digi stamp (brilliant for being able to resize) from Pink Petticoat and I coloured it with Promarkers.  I am also, for the first time, entering it into CR84FN, which is to use the colours below.

Thanks for looking today!  And thanks, mum, for being so clever!!!

Silhouette friend and get well cards

Hello everybody and a happy new Monday to you!  It's not always easy to be happy about Mondays but the good thing is we're heading towards the weekend again!  (I'm tring to be a half-full glass person instead of being a half-empty one!)

My card today is another one that I'm entering into WMS as we can enter as many times as we like!  The Cameo Creations stamps are, of course, from Waltzingmouse which I was able to get for free because they cost £9.00 and that is the prize for winning the Big Cheese which I won in June.  The little strip across the middle with similar looking silhouettes was done using simple Washi tape.  Easy peasy!  I also added a piece of ivory jute from The Ribbon Girls.

I also have another card which is for Freshly Made Sketches.  As you will see from the sketch, I have turned this one on its side.  It was quick and easy to make, again using washi tape.  The stamp on this card is a digi stamp from Meljen Designs.  Take a look there - the digi stamps are fab!  The plaster was coloured with Promarkers so I am also entering this into the I Love Promarkers Challenge which is to include Circles.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi folks!  And welcome to Susie, my newest follower!  You can see Susie's lovely blog here.

Today's card was made for my son to give to his friends who are getting married in August and they have invited him to their Evening Reception.  Using the lovely sketch from Waltzingmouse and the two SU! colours from Dynamic Duos, I made this card for him. I am also entering it into Dieing for a Challenge. Of course, he'll not care what it looks like!  Men!

I used my new Hexagon dies and my tiny butterfly die (My Favorite Things) which I got from Dies to Die For, along with a Notebook die from Papertrey Ink.  The stamps are WMS - polka dots, plaid, Spellbinder nestability vintage labels and the sentiment.

Thanks for looking!  See you again soon.

So what do you think...?

Good afternnon!  And a special welcome to my new follower, Kim!
Today's card is for a brand new Tuesday Clean and Simple challenge called CASology.  Every week there will be a cue card with one word on it and we have to make a card with whatever comes to mind regarding that word!  Just keep it clean and simple.  I am also entering it into A Passion for Papertrey and this week anything goes.

This week the word is SUN

The stamps I used are:
Sentiment - Papertrey Ink
Postcard - Lili of the Valley
Sun & rainbow - Clear Dollar Stamps

Now, for the question in my post title - I took two photos of the same card and I need you to tell me which one you think shows the card best please?

This one was taken in the kitchen with the sun coming in through the window

This one was taken in my front room where the sun doesn't come in during the day

Thanks for looking and I hope you can tell me which one looks best!

Hugs to you!

Hi friends!  Thanks for popping by.  Today I have only a quick post as things are quite busy here at the minute.  I am using WMS Sketch challenge #105 for this card, which was quite easy and I enjoyed this layout.  The papers are My Mind's Eye On the Sunny Side and the stamps are Teeny Trees from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  If you look closely (which actually maybe isn't a good idea!) you'll see I have done some stitching around the edge of some of the card.  The machine took off at high speed before I could control it, hence the tiny stitches on the right side!!  My hubby bought me a little cheap machine at Christmastime last year just for cards but I can't get the hang of it as the thread keeps breaking.  Either the tension is too tight (I have it on the loosest gauge now) or the thread is too thin.  Any tips would be welcome, as I really do like the look of stitching on cards and some people are so good at it.  Another thing I'm disappointed about is the fact that the lighting at my house never seems to be great for taking photos of my cards.  Anyway, it could be worse!

Thanks for looking!

Retrosketches challenge

Today's sketch is from Retrosketches, a lovely challenge blog which has some lovely inspiring sketches.   I used my Die-namics butterfly die to cut some felt and the picket fence which is Magnolia, both from Dies to Die For.  The sentiment is Waltzingmouse.  The ink is Pink Passion (SU!) and the card is Crumb Cake (also SU!).  I am also entering this card into Dynamic Duos, Papertake Weekly (Anything Goes) and Simply Stamping (Clean and Simple).

Thanks for looking!

Double challenge!

Today I have a card that I made for two challenges:

I used Crumb Cake and (because I don't have Pink SU! colour) as close as I get could get to Pretty in Pink with my promarkers (Pale Pink and Baby Pink).
The little bird cage image is from Pink Petticoat and it is a digital image, coloured with the pink promarkers and also Caramel, then highlighted with SU! Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  The card is SU! Crumb Cake and the papers are First Edition.
