Blessed beyond measure!

Hello friends!  I hope you are ready for a lovely new week, whatever it is you are doing.  January can be a bit of a grim month, weather wise, so let's try to find something positive about everyday.  Of course, having the Lord as my Saviour is always a blessing to me and also having my wonderful family.  I often think about the fact that, although I have a VERY small family, I am truly blessed by the fact that they are so loving, thoughtful and kind - so quality wins over quantity for me!  The Lord has blessed me beyond measure in the family that I have and they mean so much to me.

I made this card last week for the WMS Sketch Challenge but didn't get it in on time before the challenge ended but here it is anyway.

Thought for the Week - Psalm 4.
Insomnia is difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep for long enough to feel refreshed the next morning, even though you've had enough opportunity to sleep.
Most people have problems sleeping at some point in their life. It's thought that a third of people in the UK have bouts of insomnia. Insomnia tends to be more common in women and more likely to occur with age. (Taken from the NHS website).
Thankfully, this is one of those problems that I don't have very much experience of, but I do know some people who are tormented because of not getting enough sleep.  It must be an awful experience.  There have been a few times in my life when I have been worried about things and it has caused me a few sleepless hours but nothing debilitating; however, I found in those hours that everything seemed worse than it really was, my thoughts tended to be negative and the more I tried not to think, the more I did.  Then I discovered this verse in God's Word - verse 8: "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety."  David must have been going through some sort of trial when he wrote this, very likely when he was on the run from an enemy, perhaps even his own son, Absalom.  He was obviously in distress and needed the Lord's help (v.1).  After spending some time in prayer he realised that there was absolutely no point in worrying about the future for he couldn't change anything; but he was able to lie down in peace and sleep because he knew that the future was in God's hands and if the Lord chose to, He could change any situation around.  It's such a sense of relief to the Christian to know that we are safe in the Lord's hands and He will not allow anything to happen in our lives without His permission first.  he cares about us very much and we need to try and leave ourselves in His loving care knowing that He will make us live in safety.  I hope that, if you are unable to sleep tonight, you will turn to the Lord and ask for His cleansing from sin and for peace as you leave your future in His hands.
God bless!
