Paper Players Challenge #93

Well, hello everybody and welcome to my new followersI am so pleased to have you join me!
Today, I have a little frame that I made for my daughter's friend who is getting married in May.  We took it to her on Saturday and she just loved it!
For this challenge at Paper Players we have to choose one line of three items and I choose flowers, dry embossing (my choice) and Designer Paper.
These frames are so quick and easy to decorate.  It is just a basic wooden frame, covered with paper and embellishments.

My daughter's friend said she will put a photo of her and her new husband in the frame - it also matches the colour scheme in her living room!

Thought for the Week.

Psalm 11.

In verse 4, we read that the Lord is watching from Heaven all the goings on upon earth.  He sees you when you are sad and lonely, or in pain or struggling with a loss.  He sees when someone is giving you a hard time; He sees when you feel like giving up.
If you are feeling like a vulnerable or fragile Christian today, take heart - the Lord sees it all and, more than that, He cares about you.  Leave yourself in the safety of His care; ask Him to help you be gentle and patient; ask Him to increase your faith.

God bless you this week!

Sympathy card

Hi all, and welcome to my new followers who have joined me over the last couple of weeks!

I went back to work last week after being off for almost two weeks for the Easter break and during that time I blogged almost every day but with being back at work I am usually only able to manage once a week (at least you'll not get bored with hearing from me all the time!!).

The card that I have for you this week is a sympathy card for a friend who lost her sister suddenly.  I always try to keep my sympathy cards understated as it is more about the sentiment than the image or embellishments.

The paper is one of my favourites - My Mind's Eye and the little heart is one of the two from Tim Holtz.  The sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps.
I am entering this into the weekly challenge at Word Art Wednesday, where they like you to use a verse from Scripture or an encouraging or inspirational saying.
I am also entering it into Little Birdie Blessings (Scripture Thursday Challenge) which, this week has the theme of casting your cares upon the Lord.

Thought for the Week.
Psalm 10

This Psalm is a cry for help from one who is suffering persecution and who is being attacked by the enemy.  For the Christian today, this attack could be from someone you know personally or from a group of people or it could be an attack from the devil himself in the form of doubts about your salvation and about the love of God to you.
In verse 16 there is a shout of victory because whatever happens to the Christian, God sees it all and will take action and help us in His good and perfect time.  "The LORD is King for ever and ever".  He is almighty, omnipotent, all-seeing and all-knowing...even though we may feel that God doesn't know about our sufferings, we can be assured that He does and He will act, in His perfect time.  Verses 17 and 18 say, "LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress."

God bless you!

70th birthdays

There is a couple I know who will both  be celebrating their 70th Birthdays soon and I made this card for them.  It's also for the challenge at Dies to Die For where we have to use brown and blue.

Stamps and dies are from My Favourite Things.

My beautiful girl

I just made this card last night for my daughter.  Even though she has been married for a whole year now she is still my wee girl!  I miss her out of the house too.  So, this is just for her, my special girl.

I am entering it into the following Challenges:

I do so love these My Mind's Eye Papers.
The little cameo, the flowers and the bias binding ribbon are all from Wild Orchid Crafts and the stamp is from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Be still, and know...

Well, hello there!  Today I have a card to show you that is winging its way across Northern Ireland as we speak (or at least, it should be)!  It is for another one of my friends who has been living with breast cancer but who is doing very well at the minute.  I just wanted to send her this card to let her know I'm still thinking about her.

I have also incorporated the following challenges into this card:

Again, I used flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts (gorgeous, and excellent service from this company!).

Hope you, and my friend, like it!

April Showers

Well, here in Northern Ireland we certainly have been getting quite a lot of April Showers (in fact, yesterday we even had hailstones!) and the challenge for this week from Papertake Weekly Challenge is to make a card interpreting April Showers.

So, I have used a My Favourite Things umbrella die for this challenge and a stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps.  A simple card to encourage someone.

Sorry the picture isn't very clear!

Bright and sunny Spring Day!

What a lovely day it is today!  Bright, sunny (although not so warm) and fresh!  In the midst of life there is always someone who is suffering, whether through disappointment, illness or loss.  I have a good friend who has recently found out that she has breast cancer and she is recovering from surgery.  She is a Christian and that makes all the difference.  The Bible doesn't say that we will go through life without trouble but what it does say is that when we are going through the trouble, the Lord will be with us every step of the way, helping us and giving us the strength we need.  When I went to visit her in hospital the other day, she knows she is in the Lord's hands and peace just emanated from her.  The Lord has promised never to leave us, in the good times or in the bad.

So, here is the card I made for her, using My Favourite Things stamps.  I am also putting it in to this Challenge at Stamp School, which is to use Pinks, Greens and White.  I used the papers to piece the clothes on the images.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Twice in one day!

Wow!  Here I am with my second post of the day which is very unusual for me as I rarely have time to post once a month now!  But I'm off work this week and have a bit more time on my hands.

I was checking my little birthday calendar and discovered that one of my good friends has a birthday tomorrow and I'd forgotten.  So I had to rush in and make a card for her which I did using the sketch for this week at WMS.  Here is the sketch:

...and here is my card:

I love these papers from My Mind's Eye.  They all coordinate so well and take the hard work out of matching up.
Thanks for looking!

Happy Easter Monday!

The weather is not so good today - windy, cool and it looks like the rain may be about to come down soon!  So, what better day than to make a card or two!  I don't usually make Easter cards but I got a lovely stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps and just had to make a few cards for family and other special people.  I especially like the sentiment 'He is Risen' because that is indeed why we celebrate Easter.  It's not about the eggs or the's about the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ rose again on the third day after His crucifixion, thus conquering sin and death!  For the Christian, there is that glorious hope that one day, we too who are redeemed by the blood of Christ, will be resurrected and taken to heaven to live with Him for evermore.

So here is what I have made.

The flowers are something I have only recently bought and I just love them.  They are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I learnt about them from the blog of this very talented lady, Bev Rochester. I think the flowers add a really lovely touch to a card and make it look more full.

Enjoy the rest of your Easter break, if you're having one, and think about the true meaning of Easter.
