I Heart You!

I had a bit of a panic when I looked at the time left on the CAS(E) this sketch blog...I only had 48 minutes to left to get my card made, photographed and blogged but I have just managed to get it done!  I am also entering this card into my new found challenge blog, Addicted to CAS which asks us to use embossing.  This is the sketch above and here is my card:

Actually, it nearly always seems to be the case that I am happier with the cards I make in a rush as opposed to the ones I spend ages over!
The card is lovely pearlised card I got in a shop near Belfast, as are the buttons (oh look, the glue is still wet on the bottom middle heart!!!) and the twine is Cotton Candy.  The sentiment is MFT.  I used a SU! embossing folder to create the little hearts.

Thanks for looking today!

CAS Colours and Sketches # 8

Hello friends!  Today I have a card that I made for my friend's birthday which was on Saturday.  She is having a hard time with sickness in her family at the minute, so I'm hoping this cheers her up.  I love the three colours that are used in this colour Challenge over here at CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge # 8

I'm not sure if my card is CAS enough but there's no harm in trying ; )

This is a cute stamp set by WPlus9 that I got from USA called Funky Flowers.  It was being discontinued so I got it at a very good price.  I love the way you can mix and match all the different images to get so many variations.  It's a perfect set for colour challenges.  The scalloped and embossed edge is an SU! die and embossing folder and the ribbon is Melon Mambo, also from SU!

Thank you for looking today.  Hope you have a good week.

Dynamic duos #35

Hi there!  I know, surprise, when do I ever post more than once in a week except when I am off work?!
I just happened to have a look at this SU! colour challenge called Dynamic Duos and since I love these two colours, I thought I'd give it a go.

My card isn't really that special but I got the new sentiment stamp from Flourishes and the heart from MFT so I had to get them inked up!

I'm pleased with how this turned out.  Hope you like it!

It's Winter!

Hello friends and bloggers!
Today I have two cards for you, both for the same two challenges.  One is for the CASology Challenge using the cue word 'WINTER' and the other is using the sketch provided over at
CAS(E) This Sketch.  These two challenges are my favourites at the minute as I am in clean and simple mode.
Both of my cards were very quickly done using Prickley Pear stamps and Bashful Blue SU! ink.  On the 'Let it Snow' card I have also added some Liquid Pearls for dimension.  Not much to it, really, but at the minute I don't have much time either!

Thought for the Week.

So, now, what do the Scriptures say about the word 'WINTER'?
Solomon, the wisest man of all time, said, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Song of Solomon 2:11 - "For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone".  Well, according to the Met Office this is not quite to be the case in the coming days, but the good news is that the winter will eventaully pass.  I don't know what you are like, but I am definitely not a winter person.  I really struggle with the dark nights and cold, wet days but I always start to feel more hopeful at this time of the year because things can only get better!  Isn't it good to have something positive to look forward too?
And we know that it is a similar situation in the Christian life - we have all the different seasons of life to face - the good sunny days of peace and blessing when we seem to be on the mountain top and the dark, difficult days of trial and hardship.  Without going into detail, the past few weeks have been a bit of a winter experience for me and sometimes we wonder when we are going through difficult times, Who really cares?  Well, I am truly thankful that I have a small but very supportive, loving and caring family who do care.  And better still, I have the saviour in my heart.  Sometimes I forget that I don't have to carry the burden alone but yesterday on the way in to work, George Beverly Shea was singing on a CD I have - "Does Jesus care?"

Does Jesus care, when my heart is pained
too deeply for mirth or song?
when my sad heart aches
till it nearly breaks
Does He care enough, does He hear?

Oh yes, He cares
I know He cares
His heart is touched with my grief.
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary
I know my Saviour cares.

If you are going through a winter experience just now, please...
  • leave your burden with the Lord for He really does care
  • remember, Spring is just around the corner and there is always something to look forward to.
Thank you for popping by today!

Happy 2013!

Hello friends and welcome into 2013.
It's a brand new year, with brand new experiences and opportunities for all of us.  Life is short and this year I want to savour every moment of it, with special emphasis on family and friends.  I have a small family but what we lack in quantity we make up for in quality!  I have decided that, this year, I'd like to document more of the good times with friends and family so I am going to be using the new Simple Stories Journalling system, along with other products such as Stampin' Up!  I'm not the best person in the world at taking photos, so I'll probably only add a few of those but there will be lots of journalling and writing down of thoughts and special times...these won't really be for anybody to look at, just for me, but I like the thought of having these special memories recorded for me to look back on and to be thankful for.

Today I have a project for the Casology Challenge #25 where the cue word is NEW.

My project is a bit different than usual because it is a notebook, not a card.  Each year when I read my Bible, I try to take notes and write down things I'd like to remember.  I bought a couple of plain kraft notebooks from Paperchase and decorated the front with papers (PTI), die cuts (Memory Box) and some stamping (PTI).  So my plain book went from this -
to this!

Thought for the Week
So, what does the Bible have to say about the word 'NEW'?
Lots of things, thankfully!  But, of course, I'll just focus on one.
In Lamentations 3 the prophet Jeremiah has been suffering and is very cast down.  He talks about the awful things that have been happening to him and how he feels things have been bearing down on him very heavily.  I'm sure most of us can identify with times when we have felt this weighed down by the trials of life.  However, it is not all doom and gloom.  In Lamentations 3:22,23 we read these wonderful words of hope and a future!

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness".

So dear friend, if you have the Lord in your heart as your personal Saviour, remember, when you feel that things have become unbearable and just too much for you to cope with, the Lord is compassionate every single day.  His faithfulness is 'great'.  He loves you and wants you to know that each morning when you wake up and feel that it is almost too difficult to face another day, He will be there by your side pouring out His tender compassion upon you like a fresh shower as you make your way through the day.  Take time to dwell upon all the wonderful things He does for you and gives you each day, then your heart will be full of love for Him.
This is one of the reasons why I like to record my blessings because on days when things are difficult, it helps to look back and see how the lord has helped me in the past.  But it is better than that, because the Lord doesn't expect us just to survive on past, He gives us new ones every day!

Thanks for visiting today and may the Lord bless your heart this week!
