Dynamic Duos #50

Hello friends.  Today I have a card to show you that I made for the Dynamic Duos Colour Challenge #50.  The two colours, along with neutrals, are Calypso Coral (love it) and Blushing Bride (which I don't have so I used Blush Blossom instead).
All supplies used are Stampin' Up!

Take care.

Colourful rainbow

Hello again, folks.  Because I loved the colour challenge over at ColourQ #186 so much, I couldn't resist making another card with those same colours, this time a Thank You card (Stampin' Up! sentiment).  I'm also pleased with my new ink splats stamps.
So now, I'm off to open a brand new box of SU! supplies that have just arrived!  Yay!
See you again soon x

Everyone smiles in the same language!

Hello folks!
Today I have a card to show you that I am actually quite pleased with, for a change!  I like the colour combination and also this is a stamp I have had for years but have never used.  It's a retired stamp from Stampin' Up! so it's no longer available and the card stock is also SU!  I used my Ink Pads and blender pen to colour in the little images.
The challenges are -
CASology #41 - cue word is 'giggle'
Colour Q #186 - Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake and Whisper White

Thanks for stopping by today.

A perfect birthday

Hi folks!  I hope Spring is beginning to make its way into your life, as it is here in Northern Ireland.  The temperature is climbing up and it is dry today.
The card I'd like to share with you today is for a friend's birthday on Monday.  I think she'll like the background paper with all those dainty flowers.
The stamp is Stampin' Up! - Vintage Verses.
I am entering this card into
Thanks for popping by today!  Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Birthday Cupcake!

Hi folks!  Hope you are all well.
I have a card for you today that I made for a birthday in my office this week.  I made it for the CAS-UAL Fridays challenge #98 which is to use 'glitter'.
The stamp is Stampin' Up! and the colour is Pool Party which I really like, it's so clean and fresh.  I have also added some Dazzling Diamonds on the cupcake for the little bit of bling.  I'm not sure if this card will pass for clean and simple because of the background paper, but no worries, I enjoyed making it anyway!

Just a close-up so you can see the glitter!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Pretty birdie

Good evening, folks.
Today I'd like to share another card with you that I did for the Dynamic Duos Challenge (Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler).  I don't have these colours in my Stampin' Up! paper supplies (yet, anyway!) so I found some other paper that would do for the paper-piecing, but the stamped sentiment and the ink are both SU!  I got this cute little bird a while back from a friend and have made this card for her.  Hopefully it'll cheer her up!
Short and sweet today!  Thanks for visiting!

Fusion and Friend

Good morning folks (depending where you live, of course!) and thank you for looking in today.  Welcome to my newest follower too.
Today's card is for the new challenge called Fusion by Jackie Rockwell and also it's for the Addicted to CAS Challenge which is to use the word 'Friend'.  I'm quite pleased by how this card turned out.  I used my new SU! Pinwheel die and the sentiment is also SU!.  Nip over to the new Fusion challenge and check it out.  They give you three challenges in one.  You can use the sketch on its own, the colour inspiration on its own or combine them both to make a Fusion!

Thank you for stopping by.

Freshly made...thanks!

Hello folks.  It's Monday and for today's card I have followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and used the colour theme from Dynamic Duos (use Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler).  I'm quite happy with this little effort.  The elephant is SU! and was earned with the recent SAB.  I stamped the little flower and leaf (also SU!) onto Very Vanilla cardstock then cut them out and popped them up on a dimensional and added the SU! natural twine.
Thanks for stopping by today's quick post!

I can't believe this!!

Hello friends and followers.  I cannot believe this!  Yesterday, I decided that I was no longer going to pursue the high standards I'd set for myself with Clean and Simple cards.  No, instead the plan is to do what I'm happy and comfortable with and follow my own style.  So, last night I was playing around with a few of my SU! stamps and decided to follow a colour challenge at Splitcoaststampers - Real Red, So Saffron (love it!) and Pool Party (love it more!). Have you ever been on this site?  It has loads of amazing techniques, ideas and challenges.  I coloured the little bird image, put it all together with card and ribbon and hey, didn't it just happen to match the Sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch?
It just goes to show what can happen when the pressure's off!

I'm not a Clean and Simple girl ; (

...of course, some members of my family or friends may dispute the title of this blog post, but after struggling to come up with CAS cards over the past number of months, I have finally come to accept that, even though I adore the CAS look, I just cannot do it ;(.  I like to use lots of papers and add embellishments and I just can't get a handle on creating something that is clean and simple but still pretty.  I'm always disappointed with my CAS cards.  I always try to copy other people's style and that's when I feel disappointed because mine aren't as good.  So, instead, I will try to find a 'look' that is just mine.  I will settle for cards that I'm happy with and not try to feel 'boxed in' by the latest style or trend...I'm just going to be 'me'!
So, here we are with today's card.  I love Kraft (or Crumb Cake, which Stampin' Up! 'tastefully' call it) and I've added a few SU! papers.  The sentiment is a favourite of mine because of the lovely font mixture.
I have followed the sketch over at Mojo Monday #287 for this card.

"Up!" with CASology

Good evening, folks!
I have just made a card for the CASology Challenge #38 which is to interpret and create using the word 'UP'.  Well, I thought I would be partly sneaky and say that my card is stamped with a Stamp from the current Stampin' Up! catalogue...and it uses Stampin' Up! papers!  But really, I liked this little image for this challenge because the birds are 'up' on a high wire.  I stamped the image first onto a piece of watercolour paper and then with my Pool Party and Summer Starfruit inks and my Blender pen I coloured in the birds.  Then I cut the tiny birds out and stuck them on top of the stamped image on the Crumb Cake base.  Finally, I rounded the edges of the card to soften the look.
I thought you might also like to see what's been happening in Northern Ireland.  I took my mum to the hospital yesterday for a check up  and afterwards we went to her local garden centre where we met these lovely polar bears having fun in the snow!!  Aren't they cute?  Very clever idea, don't you think?!
We could hardly believe that in some areas there was no snow at all yet in others it was still about 6ft high.
Hopefully it'll all be gone soon as the temperatures are to rise this weekend.
Thanks for popping by today!
God bless!

Oh happy day!

Good afternoon!  I hope the weather is more like Spring than of late where you are.  Here in Northern Ireland it is bright and dry, but still very cold for the time of year.
Today's card is for the Muse Challenge #11 where we have to use some part or all of the card shown as inspiration and explain what we did.  When I first saw this challenge a while back, I thought it would be too difficult to do, but it can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be.
I have used my new favourite colour 'Lucky Limeade' along with 'Island Indigo'.  The stamps are 'Bloomin' Marvellous' from the recent SAB.  I added a strip of little embossed hearts from the Edgelit Borders and some thick Whisper White twine.  The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I used a slightly off-white piece of scrap card for the sentiment and it comes up cream against the white base card.  Oh well, all part of using up scraps!
Here is the original card that we take our inspiration from -
by Laurie Willison.  Isn't it pretty?
Maybe you'd like to try some of these challenges.
Thanks for looking today.

This should be interesting!

Hi folks. This is just a bit of a test, to see what happens. As well as taking my pics on my phone, i've discovered I can also blog on my phone! I've never done this before so I'm not really sure how it will work for adding links, etc, but I'll give it a go.
I've made this card for Fab Friday's challenge #15, using their sketch. I decided to watercolour the image which I haven't done in ages and really enjoyed doing again. I'm also entering this into the 'Dynamic Duos' challenge which is to use deep pink and any other colour of choice so I've chosen 'melon mambo' & 'lucky limeade'.
Edited to add - I've just received a phone call from my mum who always keeps me right, to say the photo is too big and has gone over some of the writing in the side bar.  Her advice is that I should just blog on my computer but take the photos on my phone because they are clearer than using the camera - wise advice and I agree!!  Also, blogging on my phone meant I couldn't add links.

Thanks for looking today!

Aha! It does work!

Hi folks!  Do you ever get one of those times when you'd really like something to work, but someone tells you it won't so you don't even bother to check for yourself?  Then someday later, in a fit of desperation, you try it out and it does work!  Well, today has been one of those days and I'm really pleased.
Until recently I had a very old Nokia phone which did the basics and only the basics, but I felt it was time to treat myself to a Smart phone.  Of course it does all the new-fangled things that young people love but we older people take ages to catch onto.  So anyway, my hubby is using the camera this week so I was left camera-less and I asked my son how I would manage to take photos of my cards for blogging.  Obviously, this is not a matter of huge concern to him (the look and laughter said it all!) and I asked could I use his IPad (big mistake!!).  Then I asked him if the quality of photos taken on my phone would be good enough and he snorted 'I doubt it' and I believed him.  But, as I said, in desperation I gave it a go and hey ho! it DOES indeed work!  I can't see much difference in the quality of the pics compared with the 'proper' camera.  What do you think?
So here is my card for today, which I am entering into three Challenges:
The Paper Players - Tic, Tac, Toe (Pearls, Birthday, Pink & Green)
Dynamic Duos - Deep Pink & my choice of colour (Pool Party)
All Stamping supplies (apart from the tiny pink pearls) are Stampin' Up! which you can purchase by contacting me at any time.
