Sketch and Colour Challenges

Hello friends and fellow bloggers (and family, too, of course)!  Hope you're enjoying your Saturday.

Before I show you my card, I'd like to thank Gracie (and Marlou, of course!) for choosing me to win a lovely surprise goody bag to celebrate her blog's 6th anniversary.  I'm already excited because Marlou's gifts are so gorgeous.  Pop over and check out her blog, Scrapping with Love!
So, my card that I'd like to share today came together very quickly due to the inspiration of this 2nd Sketch over at this new Challenge blog called Seize the Sketch and the lovely colours suggested by Colour Throwdown #256.  I made this card for my new downline who has just signed up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator under me and I wanted to send her a little welcome card and gift.  I thought the 'W' from the Occasions Alphabet stamp set was just right for this card.  Hope she likes it.

I embossed the sentiment onto the Pear Pizzazz cardstock with White embossing powder to make it stand out better.  I also used the new Hearts a Flutter stamps and matching dies, which I love because they are so versatile and can be used for anything.  I also used my new SU! Chevrons Embossing folder and some Rich Razzleberry ribbon that I'd had left over from a couple of years ago.
Here's a little Thought for the Week to help encourage you.
I was reading Psalm 7 this morning (I just love the Psalms...they are so encouraging).  King David was going through a rough time (you see, everybody has trials and troubles, right from royalty to the everyday citizen) and I'm really glad that he recorded how he was feeling because we can often identify with his feelings and learn how he managed to cope.  It seems that somebody called Cush the Benjamite, was saying some mean things to or about David and this got the king down.  But he didn't stay that way because he immediately started to pray and ask the Lord to help him.  Then he ended up praising the Lord for all His goodness and mercy and singing praises to the King of kings.  If you're feeling down or upset today, try not to dwell on the negatives too much but instead start talking to the Lord about it.  He really does care for you and He wants you to tell him about your trials and difficulties.  If you start to think about all the things the Lord has done for you and how much He truly loves you, soon your thoughts should turn away from yourself and more to Him so that you will end up praising His holy name!  He will bless your heart if you turn it to Him.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Cool washi...

Hello again, friends!  I hope you are well.
Today I'd like to share a couple of cards that I made last night with my new 'goodies' from SU!  I have to say that I love the quality of Stampin' Up! products and the way everything matches and makes crafting so much easier.  I had left off being a demonstrator a couple of years ago because I wanted to try other products and some of them are great, of course!  There are many fab companies out there, but I felt the difficulty for me was that I had so many different varieties of products and nothing really came together cleanly.  So after a short absence I returned to SU! and am so much happier, because now I feel that my creativity is more focused instead of being here, there and everywhere.  Also I find that I am actually not spending as much as I used to because I was so tempted to buy bits of everything from other companies and now I am sticking only to SU! and keeping within my spending limits while still getting fabulous products (and, of course, the privileges that being a demo brings).
So anyway, here are my two cards.
This first one was very quick and easy to do with the wonderful new Tape It stamp set!  I love washi tape and have quite a few rolls of it in a few colours, but now with this set, I can have it any colour I want!  I stamped and punched out the polka dot frame from Four Frames  with the matching punch and then added the little Thank You sentiment from Lots of Thanks.  I used Cool Caribbean, Whisper White and Basic Black ink and card.

I am entering this card into CAS(E) This Sketch #41 which finishes in a couple of be quick if you want to join in!
My second card is for the same sketch but I have incorporated the colours from the Fab Friday Challenge blog.  I'm really into embossing at the minute so I was really pleased when I saw how well the white turned out on the Crumb Cake background.  I used the Hearts a Flutter stamps and matching dies for this card and also the sentiment from Lots of Thanks.  I am also entering this into the Allsorts Challenge to use new stash.

Back from holidays!

Well hello, folks!  I've been away on holiday for a couple of weeks but now I'm getting back into the swing of normality.  We had a great time away, very hot and we got to visit some historical places from Bible times, such as Ephesus where the apostle Paul was, and also Athens.  When I got home there was a big box waiting for me with some lovely goodies from Stampin' Up!  Of course I could hardly wait to get using my new things but the washing and mountain of ironing had to be seen to first!
So, I've just made this card using my new stash - chevron embossing folder, stamps (Gifts of Kindness) and the sweet little Candy Dots.  If you'd like to place an order for any of these wonderful products, please contact me.

I embossed the flower first using Versa Mark and White Embossing Powder then I stamped the sentiment from the same set in Staz On Black ink. Then I used the folder to emboss the left side of the Pool Party cardstock and finished off the flowers by adding the little Pool Party Candy Dots.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Allsorts - Use New Stash
Dynamic Duos #66 - Pool Party, Basic Black with the option of embossing
Thanks for visiting today!

Bookmark and keyring

Today I'd like to show you a little bookmark and a key ring that I made for my daughter's best friend. I used my Stampin' Up! hearts dies to make these along with some felt and material I've had in my craft drawer, waiting to be used up! I added some SU! retired Melon Mambo spotty ribbon for the key ring.

I'm entering this into the challenge at Allsorts using this photo for inspiration:

It was the hearts and the pinks and blues that jumped out at me mostly.

I'm also entering this into the challenge at Anything but a Card where the theme is summer fun...I just think these colours are summery and the little bookmark and key ring are a handmade gift someone might appreciate!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight

Hi folks! Hope things are well with you today.

My card that I'd like to share with you is for the Dynamic Duos Colour Challenge - using the lovely colours, Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight. I think they work really well together, what do you think?

I'm not at home while I write this post so I can't remember what stamp set the little flower is from but it's definitely a retired Stampin' Up! set. The Thank You sentiment is current, Lots of Thanks. Love this one. I then added little embossed butterflies finished off with a piece of Whisper White Baker's twine.

Back again soon!

Little grey elephant!

Hello again!
I've just had, and thoroughly enjoyed, my Saturday night Chinese takeaway and wanted to post this card before I spend the rest of the evening with hubby!
I have made this 'Thank You' card using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #97 and the colours from CAS Colours and Sketches #36. When I looked at these three colours on the palette, I thought "Mmm, I can't really see these going together well" but after a bit of embossing and putting them all together, I'm more than happy with the result!
I embossed the cute little elephant from a past Sale-a-Bration set called Patterned Occasions onto SU! Basic Grey Cardstock using SU! white embossing powder and did the same with his little ear, embossing onto SU! Melon Mambo CS.  I stamped the tiny sentiment and the flower using my SU! inkpads (Melon Mambo and Old Olive) and a blender pen (easy peasy!).  The embossing at the top of the two tags was done using the circle stamp from SU! My Friend.
Thanks again for stopping by today!  Back again soon x

ATCAS Summer!

Hello folks!  Today's card is for the challenge at ATCAS where the code word is one of my favourite words...'SUMMER'!  Just the very sound of the word brings up thoughts of warmth, rest, happiness and of course, no work for a few weeks!
This card took very little time to make but I like the overall clean look.  I made it for my daughter, who is indeed a ray of sunshine!
I'll have another card shortly for another couple of challenges.  Please pop by later x
