Clean and Simple at Less is More

Hello again!  I have a card to share with you this time that I made for a friend using three yummy Stampin' Up! colours - Soft Sky, Pool Party and Coastal Cabana.  I love the 'Work of Art' stamps, they are so quick and easy to use, very versatile.  I also adore the little butterflies from 'Papillon Potpourri'; this one I stamped in Coastal Cabana and then added tiny pearls to it.  The sentiment is from 'Gifts of Kindness'.
I'm entering this card into the Anything Goes Challenge at Less is More #182.

"Less is More"

I think that's it for today...but who knows!

Have Fun at Anything But a Card

Good afternoon, friends and followers.  Today I'd like to share a couple of little gift bags I made following the instructions I found over at Pootles Papercraft.  Sam shares some wonderful tutorials and her instructions are so clear and easy to use.  This little bag is quick and easy to make and would be great for Christmas or even as wedding favours.  I'm entering these into the Challenge over at Anything But A Card #37 - Anything Goes.  My favourite of the two is the second one, I really like these papers and I also added a bit of matching washi tape onto the little peg here.

Thanks for visiting today.  See you again soon!

Wedding with a flourish

Hello friends.  I hope you're enjoying the beautiful spell of weather recently (if indeed it has been wherever you are).  I love the summer and especially when the weather is good, but here in Northern Ireland, we're not used to high temperatures and I'm afraid I'm not doing too well.  I'm trying to stay indoors with the fans on blasting.  The only time I can cope with being outside at the minute is early morning or at night!

Anyway, this is the season for weddings and my daughter asked me to make her a card for a good friend of hers who will be getting married soon.  I love the very pretty 'Love and Laughter' stamp set, with the gorgeous dress that is made up of lovely wedding phrases.  I embossed this in white onto white cardstock and then lightly sponged it with Pink Pirouette ink to give it a subtle shading.  I also embossed the largest flourish from 'Flowering Flourishes' in white onto white cardstock.  I stamped the Congratulations sentiment in Pink Pirouette.  I die cut and embossed the white cardstock and mounted it all onto Pink Pirouette cardstock.  I embossed six petite petals onto vellum cardstock and punched them out to add the final feminine touch at the bottom of the card.  As you can see, I also added some pearls on the little petals and also on the flourish.

I am going to enter this card into the challenge at AAA Cards, which is to use the photo for inspiration.  I picked out the flowers as a border.

Thanks for visiting today...keep cool!

Hello friends.  Hope you're having a good weekend so far, wherever you are.

Today, I'd like to share a card I was asked to make for someone to give to a couple who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary next week.  I wanted to keep it simple so I followed the sketch over at Case This Sketch #85 (I knew that I'd have to use this sketch again, it's a really good one). I'm also entering it into the challenge at Addicted to CAS #43, which is to make a card with the theme 'Celebrate'.  If you haven't looked at these challenge blogs, check them out, they are really worth the look.

Colour Throwdown meets Just us Girls!

Hello and welcome to today's post.  The weather here in Northern Ireland is pretty good today, sunny with occasional clouds but very warm, well...at least for us!

My card for today is for a special person (you won't know who you are until you get the card!) just because she (clue) is special.  I found another new challenge called Just us Girls and for their challenge #249 they want us to use some sort of woodgrain on our card/project.  I love Stampin' Up!'s Hardwood Stamp which I just got recently so it was perfect for this card.  I have also used the colours from Colour Throwdown #301 which includes Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate - more of my fave colours!  The sentiment on this card says it all, I think.  I also used the sketch from Paper Craft Crew #102.

Love these colours!

Hello friends!  I have a card to share with you today using 3 of my most favourite Stampin' Up! combination of colours - Crumb Cake, Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe.  I've started following quite a few challenges for colours and sketches and this is a new one to me - In{k}spire Me.  Each week there is either a sketch to follow or colours to use but because this is their 3rd anniversary of the challenge, they are asking us to incorporate a past sketch and colour challenge.  So I have used this colour challenge
and this sketch challenge

in combination for challenge #155.  I have used Designer Series Paper in Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush and inked up the stamps from Petal Parade and Lots of Thanks.  I used my new favourite Stampin' Up! tools - the paper piercer and the Essentials pack (this is great, it has templates that you can use to create lovely shapes which match lots of SU!'s dies and punches).  I'm a great fan of things that match, it makes crafting easier.

Thanks for popping by today.

I do hope that you are enjoying the summer - my favourite time of year - and that you are getting some decent weather.

I've just discovered I got a mention over at Freshly Made Sketches for one of my cards!  Pleased about this

I have made this card for two challenges, Around the World #21, using colours, and also for Paper Craft Crew #101, which is to follow the sketch below.

Just in time...!

Oh dear, I've just checked to see when the challenge at Colour Throwdown is finishing and it's in 3 hours from now so I need to get this card blogged and in on time!  It's for Challenge #300!

I have used the same sketch that I have used for my last four cards (I think it's great - pop over to CASE This Sketch to see it) and I think this will be my last...well, for now anyway!

I stamped the lovely bloom from Sale-a-bration's Petal Parade in Pumpkin Pie and Baja Breeze, inking the sentiment from Lots of Thanks in Night of Navy.

I've really enjoyed using this sketch and will probably come back to it again in the future,
Thanks for your visit today and thank you to all those who have left lovely comments recently.  It's much appreciated.

Final card for CMCC#28...promise!

Good morning!  This morning I have another card to share with you that I made using Soft Sky, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White.  I am entering this card into three challenges, Colour Me...Striking #28, Case This Sketch #84(love this sketch!) and Addicted to CAS #42(where the key word is 'Sky' - my use of it is the colour Soft Sky but I'm not sure if this can count!!).

I made the circles by piercing the circles in the Essentials paper piecing pack and then I added some Soft Sky Candy Dots in the centres.  The sentiment is from Work of Art.

How to be truly happy!

Hi folks!
Today I would like to share my Thought for the Week with you, taken from Psalm 1.
Everybody is seeking happiness, in some form or another.  Some look for it in alcohol or in drugs, some in popularity, some in doing whatever they want whenever they want.  I'm so glad that God doesn't expect us to be on a constant search for true happiness; He just gives it to us straight and simple in Psalm 1 verses 1 & 2.  The man (or woman) who is truly happy ('blessed') is the one who delights in God's law and spends time reading it, praying over it and living it.  Some people think that being a Christian is boring and restrictive, but I can tell you from experience, this is not the case.  I would much rather have peace in my heart, than popularity on Facebook; I'd rather have eternal grace than short term pleasure; in fact, as the lovely hymn says,

  1. I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
    I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
    I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
    I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
    • Refrain:
      Than to be the king of a vast domain
      Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
      I’d rather have Jesus than anything
      This world affords today.
  2. I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
    I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
    I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
    I’d rather be true to His holy name
  3. He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
    He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
    He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
    I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead
  4. God bless you today.
  5. I meant to post this card on my blog for you last night and forgot.  It's for Always Playing with Paper Challenge #10 - you can use the colours and/or the sketch.  I used both.

  7. All supplies are Stampin' Up! (available from me)

Gold wedding card, this time!

Hi there!  Hope you don't mind another wedding card, this time it's for the same person as yesterday's, but this time it's gold and from me and my hubby!
I just got this new stamp set recently and couldn't wait to get using it so this was the perfect opportunity.  I just love the detail of words in the pretty dress.  I'm unhappy with the picture because I have my kitchen tablecloth in the background!
I am entering this card into the challenge at Seize the Sketch #24.

That's me for today...thanks for coming by!

Hi folks! Firstly, I'd like to welcome my new blog follower (on Bloglovin'), Cheryl.  Thanks for joining me and I hope you will be blessed as you visit here!

So, for today I have a silver wedding card that I made for my son to give to his friend who is getting married in a few weeks.  I am entering this into Case This Sketch #84.  For this card I stamped the heart stamp from Hearts a Flutter in Versamark and then embossed in silver.  I made a little border with the Adorning Accents heart border which I mounted on to silver card.  I finished it off with a silver embossed banner from Bitty Banners and die cut it with the matching framelits...quick and easy!

Freshly Made Sketch #144 and Colour Me...Striking!

Hello there friends and a special Hello to my new follower from Sydney, Australia!  You're very welcome and thank you for joining me!

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for my friend's birthday which was on Saturday past.  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #144 and incorporated the colours from the challenge at Colour Me Challenge #28.

I inked the border stamp from Summer Silhouettes in Soft Sky, the teeny little flower in Elegant Eggplant and the leaf in Crumb Cake.  I stamped the small butterfly from Papillon Potpourri in Elegant Eggplant, coloured it with a Soft Sky marker, punched it out and then covered it with Crystal Effects to give it a raised, shiny look.  I added the tiniest pearls on to the centre of the flowers.  I also inked up the banner stamp from Hearts A Flutter with Elegant Eggplant, the sketched heart with Soft Sky and die cut these before adding the mini flower punched from Crumb Cake with a pearl added to this.  All finished off with the sentiment from Gifts of Kindness.

Thanks for stopping by today!

A green Christmas

I'm really enjoying these challenges over at Merry Monday and there is a new one up yesterday.  I'll also enter this into Late Night Stampers #252 because of the glitter.

I used to really dislike the colour green but as I've got older, it seems to be growing on me.  I bought a pack of designer paper last year called Season of Style, and there was some lovely green and white paper with POLKA DOTS, which I love!  I also used a little image from My Friend which is pretty but I never really know how to use it.  I stamped the Ornament Keepsakes bauble in Old Olive ink onto Whisper White and die cut it with the matching framelits die. I finished the whole thing off with some Old Olive Cardstock and a sprinkling of Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Very pleased with the result!

Good evening friends!  And a special "Hi!" to my friend on holiday in Australia with her family just now!

So, tonight I have a quick post, to share a card I just made for my son to send in reply to his friend's wedding invitation.  I am entering this card into Late Night Stampers Challenge #252 which is to use 'bling'!

(All supplies are Stampin' Up! except for the sentiment)

Thought for the Week.  Psalm 55:22.
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee".

Do you have worries, burdens and cares at the minute?  It would be a (pleasant) surprise if you said "No" because it seems that everybody has some sort of trial to go through at one time or another.  Christians are no different; we suffer and struggle too.  But there is one positive thing to think about!  We can go to the Lord for His help and support.  It doesn't matter whether the trial is a financial one, a health one, a family difficulty, a problem in your local congregation.  God loves you and He wants you to come to Him for help and sustenance.  To sustain means to support and strengthen and of course our strength comes from God alone.  So don't try to carry your burden alone today...take it to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to strengthen and support you through your difficult times.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Christmas cards???

Hello folks!  I hope you're having a good weekend, although I know there are a few people not feeling too well at the minute, so to you especially, I hope you feel much better soon!

This evening I have three cards to share with you for six different challenges!  Unfortunately, the picture quality isn't great, as the light was starting to fade when I took them.

This first one is for the Challenge over at Merry Monday #115, which is to create an all white Christmas card, although the sentiment can be in silver.  I'm not saying I'll definitely be able to keep up with this, but it's a good idea to get started on the Christmas cards now.

(All supplies are Stampin' Up!):
Decorative Dots embossing folder
Silver foil card
Expressions framelits
Designer frames embossing folder (retired)
Whisper White cardstock
Scentsational Season stamps (retired)

The second card is a sympathy card that I made for a friend who recently lost her mum.  It's going into the Seize the Sketch Challenge #23.  I rotated this one onto its side.

For this one I used one of my favourite Stampin' Up! colours, Smoky Slate to stamp the lovely tree from 'Hopeful Thoughts' along with the sentiment.  I also stamped the other image from this same stamp set to make a delicate background.  I finished it all off with Smoky Slate chevron ribbon.

My final card for this evening is this one which I'm entering into a combination of four challenges:

Strawberry Slush Cardstock, Ink and Marker
Crumb Cake designer paper, Ink and ribbon
Something for Baby stamps
Circle and scallop circle punches
Wood heart embellishment
Crystal effects
{All Stampin' Up!}
